OLIVELO ECOLOGICAL LIVING PARK
RURAL

Project Place:  Izmir, Turkey

Project Type: Cultural / Rural

Project Status: Competition Entry

Team: Atahan Topçu, İrem Önal, Göksu Ulu

Year: 2019

The cycle between urban and rural life was taken as a basis in the architectural design phase. The Urla stone used in the ground floor design is the carrier of the main steel structure of the building and symbolizes rural life, while the city life is symbolized by using corten steel on the first floor (see Picture 2). Thus, it was aimed to emphasize the necessity of rural life to be the main carrier of today's modern society and the city created by it, and attention was drawn to this fact that many people forgot. At the same time, it is aimed to promote local culture and materials.

The continuity of the bicycle and pedestrian paths, which are constructed with two ramps with 10% inclination starting from +54.00 to +58.00, are provided with a pleasant viewing terrace for the users.

The fictional and structurally surrounded natural landscape area is intended to display the texture of the region to its user in a controlled manner. With the applied landscape design, a multi-purpose usage area was provided by aiming for the users to spend their free time in this area. It is planned to provide training on harvesting and ancient production in olive trees terraced with dry stone walls. This solution eliminates the problems of uncontrolled destruction of trees located in the ancient production basin and currently continuing to be produced by inexperienced users, and unauthorized taking of products, and only contact with the help of an officer is ensured.

Controlled landscape area designed for multi-purpose; It is aimed to host many events that may be needed in future scenarios such as a local product sales area that can be established on a small scale, an outdoor exhibition area, various sports and art activities.
